Free Uad Plugins For Mac
I'm using Pro Tools HD 10.3.7 running an Octo UAD-2 Card and a Quad UAD-2 Card
I'm got a Mac 8-core, 3Ghz, 16GB RAM, Buffer size: 512, Delay compensation at 'Long' on OSX 10.7.5
I've spent about $5,000 on UAD-2 Hardware & Software and was under the impression the plugins would not use up my Native CPU on my Mac.
I've just finished installing my new Gear and was very excited to test out what these UAD-2 cards & plugins can do. I envisioned a sight where I could have 100 UAD-2 plugins and my Native CPU Load would show 0-5% (or somthing). So I set up a test session, made 20 tracks and put 80 UAD-2 plugins across all of them using a mixture of plugins.... my UAD-2 meter shows itself at around 80% full (I was using the more cpu-intensive plugins) and was fine with everything...
But then I took a look at my Pro Tools 10.3.7 Native CPU meter and it was up at 40% ??
I continued to add more UAD-2 plugins, but only to find that the more UAD-2 plugins I add, the more Native CPU they drain. They also drain the UAD-2 Cards, but at the same time my Native CPU is being drained.
I'm so utterly dissapointed. I haven't got anything out of the UAD-2 hardware. I looked around to change settings, but I can't find anything. It's like I've wasted my money.
Was this part of the deal UA? I thought my Native CPU was not going to be used? I spend the $5,000 in order to be able to do more with my sessions, but I can't do any more that what I was previously doing.
Adventually, (very quickly in fact), my Native CPU maxed out on my UAD-2 plugins and I was done.
Is this Normal?
Is this the way the whole thing is supposed to be?
Has anyone got an answer, any reply would be a good reply.
Thanks everyone.
